Logitech’s Wireless Headset Dual H820e aims to provide the professional audio quality demanded by the largest businesses. It comes with a solid DECT wireless base station, which incorporates USB and power sockets. Two indicators on the front of the base unit confirm power and charging status.

Weighing only 128g, the headset has softly cushioned earpieces and a comfy padded headband. To charge it, you slip the side with the microphone boom into the base station. Adjusting the headset is easy, and the rubber microphone stalk can be swivelled to the left or right. Volume buttons are located on the earpiece next to the microphone, and are easy to locate.

The microphone has a small mute button towards the back, and the red LED warning light on the end of the stalk can just be seen out of the corner of your eye. A button on the rear tip allows you to end calls, and another LED lets workers behind you see if you’re on a call (although this feature only works with Microsoft Lync).

Installation on a Windows 7 PC took seconds, and our Skype client picked up the H820e immediately. The battery lasts up to ten hours, and we found it comfortable for long periods: we wore it for more than four hours without developing sweaty or sore ears.

The signal broke up at around 60m away in our tests, however – some 40m short of Logitech’s stated range.

Audio quality is superb. Callers reported that it sounded as clear as the best handsets, with barely any background noise. The microphone cancelled out most of the extraneous noise in our noisy lab, so we could hear clearly.

The Wireless Headset Dual H820e compares well on value with similar Plantronics wireless dual-headsets, and delivers decent audio quality and noise cancellation. Wireless range isn’t as impressive as some of its DECT rivals, but the comfortable design and advanced features make the H820e a top choice for marathon call sessions.
